Chemical Peels (Fruit Based Glycolic Acid Peels)

Synonyms - natural fruit acid peels, AHA peels chemical peels

"I wouldn't leave the house without foundation during my mid-30's. Now, after an initial series and maintenance peels I don't need to use foundation"

What improvement can I expect from peels?

A series of 6 weekly peels helps to rejuvenate environmentally damaged skin by lightening or removing brown discolouration and the sallow colours that characterize the normal maturation of skin as people enter their 30's and 40's. Skin feels softer, with a radiance and glow more characteristic of younger skin. Monthly maintenance peels are recommended thereafter. Studies show that fine lines improve after a year of this regimen.

What can I expect during the procedure?

A deep cleansing is first done to remove excess oil and any foundation and lipstick. 70% glycolic acid is then applied (light stinging sensation) and neutralized at the point Dr. Lozinski determines to be your maximum safe exposure. For oily acne prone skin we recommend salicylic acid peels.

Do I have to hide after a peel?

Patients are slightly pink by the end of the peel (comparable to facial flushing after moderate exercise) and may return to work immediately. For most, the pinkness fades by that same evening or next day at the latest. Very occasionally there may be some light crusting or scaling for a few days.

How do peels improve IPL Photorejuvenation results?

Peeling away the uppermost skin cells allows the IPL to penetrate better. IPL Photorejuvenation results can be improved approximately 15% if a peel is scheduled a week before each IPL treatment.
